Security Tip: Enable Multi-Factor Authentication for Account Logins
Keeping your personal information safe in today's connected world has never been more important. Generally, the most important security step you can take is to create strong passwords. But with the dozens or hundreds of online accounts that we all utilize, from banking to streaming services to email, it can be difficult to maintain secure practices.
Consider adding Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as an additional login step to your most sensitive online accounts, like your email and bank. While it may be a slight inconvenience when you log in, MFA adds an extra layer of crucial security that can stop bad actors from accessing your accounts even if they get their hands on your passwords.
MFA usually works by sending a specific code to your smartphone that you must then enter after inputting your login credentials. This verifies that it is indeed you trying to log in to your accounts. Many accounts ask if you'd like to enable MFA when you first create them, but for existing accounts, navigate to the security settings to see if MFA is available.
