Beware of the "View & Sign Completed Document" Email Scam
A growing email scam tricks recipients into clicking on malicious links by claiming you need to "view and sign" a document. Recently, a BCT member received an urgent email from DocuSign that appeared to come from BCT, making the scam even more convincing. These emails often look legitimate, using official logos and language, and create a false sense of urgency.
How it works:
- You receive an unsolicited email with a link to view or sign a document.
- Clicking the link leads to a phishing page or downloads malware.
Red flags:
- Unsolicited emails from unknown sources.
- Urgent language pushing you to act quickly.
- Suspicious links.
- Attachments that you didn’t expect or weren’t expecting to receive.
What to do:
- Don’t click the link or download attachments.
- Verify the sender directly using trusted contact details.
- Report suspicious emails to your email provider.
