Tech Term: Task Manager
#tech term
A task manager is a computer tool that allows users to view and control the programs and processes running on their device. It provides a snapshot of what the system is doing at any moment, showing details such as active applications, background processes, CPU usage, memory consumption, and network activity.
People often use a task manager to close unresponsive programs, check system performance, or identify software that is slowing down their computer. It can also help diagnose issues such as overheating, freezing, or unusually high resource usage by pinpointing which process is causing the problem.
Most operating systems include task management tools, each with its own layout and features, but the purpose is the same. A task manager helps users understand how their system is performing and gives them control over what is running.
